Acorn under the Dawn Sun

Acorn smiled, staring at the sky. She was bored, but happy. She padded around. Acorn smiled more sinister and then padded towards the forest, secretly and quietly.

Moon padded out to get her and Feather something to eat. She saw Acorn sneaking out of camp. She ran over to her. "Where are you going so soon, little one?"

Acorn perked up her ears. "I was just going to uh explore." She studdered. "It's not very faaaar. Just oveeeer there." Acorn hesitated.

"Kits shouldn't be wandering outside of the camp." Moon said. "Why aren't you in the Nursery with Swift?"

"It....Its boring there. All I do is playfight and walk around. THATS IT!" Acorn explained. "I want to see the world better." She continued. She hoped that Moon would buy it.

"You can..." Moon said, seeing Acorns face light up. "But you have to wait until you're a To-be to see outside the camp, at least."

"So that means....I can?" Acorn asked, smiling wide. "Please? Please? Please?" She asked continuously.

Moon sighed. She picked up Acorn by the scruff and carried her back to the Nursery with Swift. "When you are a To-be, Mist will train you, and she'll show you the Tribe's land." she said. "What's beyond these mountains is history, and that's why we left it in the first place."

Acorn sighed, too. She had wanted to see the mountains. To escape. To be a hero and unravel the mysteries. And there she was, in the nursery. Acorn decided to leave at midnight on her journey. No turning back. She smiled to herself and jumped on Swift when she was set down.

"Stay here." Moon scolded. "If I catch you again, I promise you'll be starting some To-be punishments-like cleaning out old bedding for the elders and kit-mothers." Moon gave Acorn one last glare and padded off to the fresh kill pile and got a small bird for her and Feather to share.

Acorn smiled again when she left. "But you won't know." Acorn thought. She got off Swift before she could attack back. Acorn fell asleep to make time fly.

Moon woke up with a start around midnight. She had a bad dream of her past. She shook her head and went to the sacred pool. She looked for a sign of anything. A bad future, a good event, anything. When nothing came, she went outside the den and into the shadow so no cat could see her awake at this time of night.

Acorn woke up. Good timing. Acorn peeked outside. No one. She sneaked out. Checked to see if anyone was following, she ran out of the camp. She didn't turn back like she said to herself. She looked up at the mountains. So far. But so worth it. Acorn ran and ran. She breathed a sigh of relief. No one WAS following her. Only at least a couple miles until she can calm down. She was so excited. Acorn could do a bunch of stuff. She ran farther until she couldn't see the camp anymore.

Moon noticed Acorn running out of camp. She kept a good distance from her, so she could see the kit, but she couldn't see her. When Acorn stopped, a hawk flew over head. Moon ran and picked up Acorn, racing back to camp. She ran to her den, and got to the back where Feather was sleeping. She turned and went back into the Cave of Pointed Stones, the stars reflecting off the pool. She set Acorn down and crouched protectively over her.

Acorn squeaked when she gotten picked up. "I can take care of myself!" Acorn yelled. When Moon dropped her at the pool Acorn ran again. "No! I can do it! I will do it!" Acorn screamed and ran off again, climbing up a tree, a hawk in it, sleeping.

Moon looked at her in shock and fear. She quickly ran up the tree and grabbed her, waking the hawk and raced to the Nursery, the hawk close behind. When Moon ran in the Nursery, she kept her grip on Acorn. "You are in big trouble, Acorn!" Moon scolded. "The first thing To-bes learn is never forget to look up, and you know why!? Because hawk and eagles eat kits and little To-bes!"

Acorn squirmed around in Moon's mouth. She was getting a big lecture. "I don't care if a birds gonna get me!!!" Acorn said, slamming into Moon on purpose. She ran and hissed. "I WANT TO GO! I'LL COME BACK LATER!" Acorn yelled again. The hawk was overhead, screeching and cawing. It was lowering down and down. "Get away, you vulture." Acorn yelled, scratching at it, making it madder. Running, she fell into a hole landing with a THUD. She shook around, making dust go everywhere. The hole was too small for Moon.

Moon reached down into the hole, but she barely touched Acorn. "Feather! Mist! Help!" she called. "Acorn, grab my paw." Moon said, reaching into the hole with her paw. She almost had Acorn. "Acorn, grab it!"

Acorn laughed. "Nuh uh. I'm gonna go and rest." Acorn teased, biting her paw. She walked like 6 steps away from the paw and fell asleep. A badger came and growled, biting at the paw. It hissed, showing it's fangs.

Moon brought her paw back and yowled in pain. Her paw was bleeding bad. "Acorn!" Moon called. "I need you to grab my paw, or get eaten by the badger!" Moon yelled, slowly bringing her paw down to Acorn. "Hurry!"

Acorn tried to speak, until the badger came towards her, and cuddled by her. "What the-" Acorn said. She stepped over it and then ran away underground. Another hole. She crept out. Ran without making ANY noise. It had been hours. She hadn't noticed until it was getting lighter. She ran and ran. "See you all." Acorn whispered.

Moon ran and grabbed Acorn, getting the best grip on her. No way she was struggling free this time. "You are in so much trouble, Acorn!" she yelled. "You're staying in my den and in either my or Mist's supervision until you are a To-be, you hear me!?" Moon limped back to her den and laid down with Acorn, facing the wall. Moon began licking her paw, while holding Acorn down with her other paw.

Acorn gasped for breath, faking it. "You're choking me." Acorn complained. "I want to go to the mountains!!!!" Acorn screamed. "I'll come back LATER!!!" She yelled, very irritated and frustrated.

"No!" Moon said. She didn't lighten her grip, only moved it further down Acorn's body. "You are going to fall asleep or die! I'm not kidding, there's a badger and a hawk, not to mention other things that can kill you in a heartbeat! You're staying put!!!"

"NO!" Acorn whined. "I want to die! I want to die!" Acorn yelled. She regretted that the second she said that. "The mountains is a BIG place for a kit. It's gonna be a good place if I CAN even go there." Acorn said, biting on her paw. She chewed on her claws, which were inside her paw.
